Comparative Analysis of Secure Range Free DV-Hop Localization algorithms against wormhole attack in WSNs

Node localization is a requisite in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) because of their far-reaching applications in many fields like surveillance, tracking, security, etc. A major challenge for all these applications is security. Since WSN is very much dependent on localization systems, these localization systems are often the target of attackers and therefore susceptible to different types of attacks. DV-Hop (Distance vector- hop) is one of the most applied and employed algorithms for finding the location of the sensor nodes, but its performance degrades in the presence of various network attacks. Subsequently, security and localization are the emerging topics in WSNs. It motivates us to discuss and analyze various existing secure solutions to DV-Hop against one of the most challenging threats to WSNs i.e., wormhole attack (WA).
