Design of circular-shaped two-element MIMO antenna for 5G communication

MIMO-Multiple Input Multiple Output antenna system has attained significant attention in modern wireless communication due to its ability to enhance spectral efficiency, improve data rates, and mitigate the effects of fading and interference. This paper presents an overview of MIMO antenna technology, focusing on its principles, design considerations, and applications in wireless communication systems. The fundamental concepts of MIMO, such as spatial multiplexing and diversity techniques, are discussed, highlighting their advantages in achieving higher data throughput and reliability. Additionally, various MIMO antenna design architectures, including single and multi-element antennas, beamforming, and array configurations, are explored in detail, emphasizing their role in achieving spatial diversity and exploiting multipath propagation. Furthermore, real-world applications of MIMO antennas in wireless standards like 4G LTE, 5G, and beyond are examined to illustrate their significance in meeting the increasing demands for high-speed and reliable communication. This circular shaped micro strip patch antenna operates over 28 GHz (5G band) range with the radiating efficiency of 81% and gain value of 7.28dBi. Simulated VSWR value is <1.9 for entire frequency range.
