Evaluating the Performance of 5G Modulation and Beyond: A Review Study

The current OFDM system has to be replaced with a new multicarrier system that has stronger characteristics and a different waveform in order to lessen the impact of 5G wireless channels. U sing a 5G channel, this research compares OFDM with four other multicarrier systems: FBMC, FOFDM, WOFDM, and UFMC. The OFDM system is used to compare the BER performance and PSD. Tapped Delay Line channel (TDL-C) is used with all multicarrier systems and tests the performance of OFDM in contrast to other multicarrier systems. TDL _ C was used because it is the channel that is used in 5G and beyond. This simplified model helps focus on core aspects of the modulation scheme due to its simplicity, TDL-C could be used as a common ground for comparing different modulation techniques. The results demonstrate that some of the modulation schemes have a better BER than others. For example, at high SNR, the FBMC offers the best BER. This means that the FBM C is less likely to corrupt the signal than the other schemes; the results demonstrate that FBMC offers the best BER and PSD.
