The Power Grid’s Convex Hull-Based Economic Dispatching Region for P-Q Under Renewable Energy Uncertainties

With the rapid increase in the installed capacity of renewable energy sources (RESs), the uncertainty of which poses a threat to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. It is crucial to study the impact of RES uncertainty on grid scheduling plans. This paper first proposes the concept of the economic dispatching region of the power grid's dispatchable units considering both active and reactive power and provides its application scenarios. Then, the solving algorithm for the convex hull-based economic dispatching region for active and reactive power (CH-EDR for P-Q) is presented. Finally, in a test system, this paper visually shows the impact of RES uncertainty on the economic operating region of dispatchable units and analyzes the economics of CH-EDR for P-Q.
