Analysis of Stress Correlations between Gender Disparities in Ship Industry

The marine industry is confronted with a significant obstacle, which is the phenomenon of unequal stress experiences among its workforce, particularly with regard to gender disparities. The goal of this study is to investigate the connection between gender and the levels of stress experienced on board ships. We study the ways in which characteristics that are unique to the maritime environment, such as extended journeys, periods of isolation, and demanding work schedules, have a disproportionately negative impact on female seafarers in comparison to their male counterparts. The questionnaire, which was administered to 124 female sailors, gathered information on the respondents' self-reported levels of stress, work-life balance, and methods of coping. Our findings, which have an R-value of.073, indicate that there is a significant link between gender and stress in the shipping industry, are intended to shed light on certain correlations that exist between the two. That being said, this information may be put to use in the development of strategies that would improve the wellbeing of all seafarers, which would ultimately result in a workplace that is more welcoming and unbiased for all employees.
