Coordination of requirements related to the insertion of renewable energy sources

The increasing number of Renewable Energy Resources connected via power converters to all voltage levels of the electrical network has given raise to concerns about the performance of the different protection functions and devices. Numerous publications have analysed this impact and investigated possible improvements or workarounds for the identified issues. In some of them, the possibility to limit the impact on the network protection by enforcing adequate requirements of the connecting converters has been discussed. Other similar technical issues exist on other domains, namely the impact on High Voltage Equipment. This paper gives an overview over the interdependency between these different issues and their relationship with regulation and standardisation.
