Intelligent Medication Compliance System for Patients Using IoT

Medication adherence is a major problem in the healthcare sector, particularly for adults with disease, because failure to adhere to medication has a major impact on the adult’s health since the treatment of any disease includes the long-term consumption of medicines. Despite being useful in the fight against illness, these drugs’ full effects are unrealized because over 50% of individuals do not take medicines as directed. Major causes of non-compliance with medicine are lack of patient education and fear of consuming the medicine for a long period. These factors need to be considered during the treatment process without adverse effects. Hence, smart medication adherence monitoring is necessary for adults with disease. This paper proposed a solution based on the Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor the patient’s medication adherence.
