Exploring Multimedia Streaming Protocols in VANET: A Systematic Review

This systematic literature review explores multimedia streaming in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET), a critical component for the advancement of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Using the Dimension platform for data collection and VOSviewer for literature analysis, this study identifies key areas to explore. It focuses on the detailed analysis of media streaming protocols, including the management of resources such as bandwidth. This review deepens our understanding of the impact of streaming media on road safety and entertainment, and offers insights into the varied needs of its applications through effective optimization strategies. The study also highlights the importance of these strategies to improve quality of service (QoS), user experience (QoE), and to simplify the management of technical requirements. The paper discusses the challenges and possible solutions, thereby contributing to the advancements in ITS. It helps stakeholders better understand media streaming in VANET, driving the development of more responsive and equitable ITS infrastructures.
