Research and Application of Automated Real-Time Detection of Circular Arcs on Plate Surfaces

Circular arc detection is extensively applied in industrial imaging, forming a critical aspect of vision control systems and foundational to automated industrial production. Particularly in the automation of home furnishing panel production, the demand for detection systems with high real-time performance and accuracy is paramount. Addressing this need, we have developed a circular arc detection system capable of rapidly and accurately identifying circular arcs in panel images. This includes common through holes, semicircular edges, and quarter-circle corners. Our method integrates the circle detection by arc-support line segments (ALS) algorithm, known for its real-time efficiency in circular hole recognition. with the Huber function for fitting circular arcs. This approach proves highly effective even amidst complex interferences such as edge chipping and burrs in images, fulfilling industrial standards for accuracy in detection.
