Reducing Electricity Cost in the Setup Process of Pipe Fittings Using ECRS Technical

This research aimed to reduce electricity costs in the production process. A case study of a pipe fittings company based on actual issues, which were prioritized afterwards by the Pareto diagram that shown excessive energy in EM-12 and LC-44 set up process. It was found that there were problems of wastes from motion and from production process. Therefore, this research suggests guidelines to reduce that electricity cost by finding open area, arranging fixture shelves close to machines to reduce motion distance, and designing appropriate shelves for fixture to reduce wastes in production process. ECRS Technical was applied in operating process. The results indicate a reduction in motion process of 70 meters and setup time in processing process reduced by 68.85 minutes. Therefore, the electricity costs of the motion process are reduced by 36,559.34 baht per year, accounting for 94.80%, and the electricity costs of the processing process are reduced by 97,256.77 baht per year, accounting for 80.07%. So, the total reduction of electricity costs 133,816.11 baht per year. This paper shows that these ECRS techniques reduce the electricity cost and increase the efficiency of energy consumption in the setup process of the Pipe Fittings company.
