Power quality analysis using adaptive controller based SAPF under different loading scenario

The use of power electronics devices and their control is widespread in both home and commercial applications. When these loads are attached to the structure, they cause the system to experience highly nonlinear current draws and harmonics. Harmonics introduced into the system result in a reduction in power quality (PQ) and a drop in system efficiency. Conventional passive filters have been recognized for their ability to diminish harmonic currents. Nevertheless, these filters have drawbacks such as their substantial dimensions and the inability to change the harmonic order. This study employs a shunt active power filter (SAPF) to improve the PQ and reduce current harmonics. The SAPF is employed to measure the intensity of harmonics. The SAPF utilizes fuzzy logic controllers for the regulation of the DC-link voltage, adaptive hysteresis current controllers for the generation of switching pulses, and modified synchronous reference frame (MSRF) technology for the generation of reference currents. The suggested controller efficiently reduces harmonics in the presence of different load. The results indicate that the suggested controller, effectively reduces the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the source current different loading scenario.
