Case Study: Automated UPS Testing System for Final Test Applications in Industrial Environments

This article aims to comprehensively present the stages, processes, and methods employed in the design and assembly of an industrial testing automation system used in the manufacturing of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems for the final product validation test. The LabVIEW language was used for programming, graphical interface, and sequential control logic of instruments, such as AC and DC power sources, hipot testers, oscilloscopes, and proprietary hardware responsible for controlling the physical aspects of the application, including control, energization, protections, backup, communication, and interaction with software interfaces and input devices. The proposed testing device aims to bring gains in production time (through automation), improvements in quality indices (test repeatability), and indirectly reduce costs due to reduced time and the need for low human intervention in test execution.
