Real-Time Video Security using Selective Encryption

Video encryption is all about protecting video data with a lightweight encryption algorithm and encryption keys to protect privacy and prevent unauthorized access. Selective encryption is defined as encrypting only the video stream’s specific parts rather than the entire frame. However, existing selective encryption algorithms have certain drawbacks. It is difficult to separate the video encryption algorithm from the video compression algorithm because the encryption is based on the syntax elements. To solve these problems the proposed method encrypts the bitstream based on the start code rather than syntax elements. The real-time videos are encrypted using selective encryption with appropriate keys selected with the Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA). Both algorithms enhance security, reduce overhead, and offer fine-grained data protection. The performance of the proposed methodology is evaluated using performance metrics like correlation coefficient, decryption speed and security. Furthermore, encrypting the part adjacent to the start code protects the video content more efficiently.
