A Passive Floating C-MOS Memristor with Analog Applications

A floating fully passive memristor emulator, characterized by six MOSFETs and a capacitor, has been introduced, employing the dynamic threshold MOSFET technique (DTMOS). This proposed memristor emulator circuit underwent simulation using GPDK 180nm CMOS technology in conjunction with Cadence Virtuoso Spectre software. The analysis encompassed transient behavior, hysteresis characteristics, and its nonvolatile properties. Furthermore, the manuscript includes a thorough examination of process corner and temperature variations. Notably, the circuit demonstrated an impressive operating frequency of up to 10MHz. Key advantages of this proposed memristor emulator comprise its streamlined design, minimal power consumption, ability to operate at high frequencies in the MHz range, and dynamic threshold features. The circuit's layout area measures 56.725*57.15μm2. Finally, the study extends its applicability to prospective analog applications, notably in oscillators such as Colpitts chaotic and Chua's oscillators, as well as in a Schmitt trigger circuit, utilizing the proposed memristor emulator.
