An Analysis of the Positive and Negative Effects of Cyberpsychotherapy: A Systematic Review

Digital technology has contributed to the improvement and development of cyberpsychotherapy. This is expected to provide clients worldwide with a unique and enhanced access to counseling, psychological, and clinical health services. It is also positive that attention is being directed toward various psychological and ethical issues emphasized in digital psychological therapy. Therefore, this study aims to shed light on the positive and negative impacts of cyberpsychotherapy and the ethical issues associated with it. It also points to practical solutions for these important issues. The results indicate various positive, negative, and ethical impacts of cybertherapy, highlighting the importance of training mental health professionals on specialized methods for providing cyber counseling and therapy to avoid potential drawbacks that may affect clients differently. The importance of conducting in-depth preventive and quasi-experimental studies is emphasized to obtain more realistic results for clients seeking psychological assistance through modern technological means.
