Intelligent Non-Looped Maze Solving Robot: IR Sensor-Driven Autonomous Navigation

This manuscript elucidates the conception and realization of an independent maze-solving robotic entity encompassing the amalgamation of three strategically situated infrared (IR) sensors for path tracking. The principal objective is to devise an optimal, economically viable solution for traversing non-cyclic labyrinths. The infrared sensors diligently and perpetually perceive the disparity in luminosity amidst the ebony labyrinthine pathways and the alabaster backdrop, dutifully transmitting instantaneous input to the integrated Arduino system. Utilizing a Left-Hand-Wall Algorithm, the robotic system effectively navigates intersections and skillfully bypasses dead ends, autonomously accomplishing maze-solving tasks. This undertaking highlights the seamless fusion of sensor technology and control algorithms, propelling the realm of autonomous robotic navigation. A series of seven trial runs were conducted to evaluate the line follower robot’s performance comprehensively. The results indicate an average time of 7 seconds per trial run, while the average linear speed was measured to be nine centimeters per Second. The Wall Algorithm is a cutting-edge approach that enables efficient, cost-effective, and fully autonomous navigation through non-looped mazes.
