Closed Loop High Step-Up DC-DC Boost Converter with Coupled Inductor and Switched Capacitor

A high output voltage step-up DC to DC boost converter has been proposed in the paper. The input for providing boost converter is a varying output PV array. Coupled inductor and switched capacitor technique are added to obtain a high step-up voltage gain with reduced voltage stress and it also results in higher efficiency. The topology is further divided into voltage booster units with passive clamp along with voltage booster unit. Proposed converter is made into a closed loop system by introducing the PID controller. The recovery (reverse) issues of the diode are removed by the coupled inductor’s leakage inductance. The steady state analysis is presented in this paper. This study clearly demonstrates mathematical derivation, operational analysis and component voltage. The boost switch turns on all of the stages. There is only one active switch required, and no extreme duty-ratio values are necessary. The coupled inductor’s leakage energy is recycled to the load. The leakages in inductance from connected inductors limits inrush currents from switched capacitors. The better efficiency performance is due to the above-mentioned characteristics. Finally, performance of the proposed circuit is evaluated using MATLAB software.
