Performance Evaluation of Dual-Hop Decode and Forward Relaying over Rayleigh/Rician Fading Model for 5G and Beyond Communication Channels

The emergence of fifth-generation (5G) and beyond (B5G) communication paradigms has enabled large-scale utilization of the available communication spectrum. The enhancement of 5G-enabled devices requires reliable and latency-sensitive communications. These requirements have emphasized the efficacy of fading models in evaluating the performance of the underlying 5G channels. The study examines the outage probability (OP) concert to dual-hop relaying using the decode-and-forward (DaF) method by employing a mixture of Rayleigh and Rician models. The cooperative model used in this paper comprises three parts: ‘Source’, ‘Relay’, and ‘Destination’. The study suggests that the source-relay (S-R) and relay-destination (R-D) channels go through respective Rayleigh and Rician fading. A precise computation for OP is obtained, and an illustration of outage performance is provided for DaF relaying schemes. Moreover, this finding verifies that the system performs better in a Rayleigh/Rician (S-R link / R-D link) scenario than in a Rician/Rician model.
