60-GHz Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna-Based Array

A magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna is designed to operate in the 65–71 GHz, which is of high interest for fifth- and future-generation wireless applications. The ME dipole exhibits 9 dBi gain, 90% efficiency, high front to back ratio, and identical E- and H-plane patterns. Furthermore, a 60-dB cross-polarization ratio is achieved thanks to a differential feeding based on a TE20 mode generator in a substrate-integrated-waveguide. Within a

array configuration, a cross-polarization ratio of 20 dB is maintained for various scanning directions of the main beam. Throughout the operating band, the array efficiency is more than 80%.
