Sierpinski Gasket Fractal-Based Microwave Metamaterial Absorber

This paper proposes a Sierpinski fractal-based Microwave Metamaterial Absorber (MMA). Sierpinski fractal is a self-repetitive structure which can provide a dual-band operation. In the designed geometry, the sierpinski triangle having dual-band performance at X and K bands. In this study, a sierpinski fractal has been designed up to it's third iteration and analysed for return loss. The sierpinski triangle is designed upon a FR-4 substrate which is having a thickness of 0.8mm. The SGMMA_1 has its dual-band operation at 8.2GHz and 20.24GHz with peak absorption of 98.3% and 91.9%. SGMMA_2 shows its dual-band operation at 8.1GHz and 20GHz with peak absorption of 97.5% and 96.2%. SGMMA_3 has its dual-band operation at 8.4GHz and 20.65GHz showing peak absorption at 97.5% and 96.5%. Furtherly, the structure is very well investigated for its surface current distribution. This proposed MMA especially used in applications of warfare and in microwave sensors that are used in environmental monitoring.
