Open Ended Slot-Loaded Dual-band Monopole Antenna for WiMAX/ISM-Band/WLAN/sub-6 GHz Applications.

The paper presents a planar monopole antenna design to achieve dual-band functionality for the application of wireless communication. The design is done using a cost-effective lossy FR4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.4 which is suitable for mass production and implementation. The proposed design is carried out using HFSS (High-Frequency Structure Simulator) software and involves the optimization of important parameters like patch shape, inverted L-shaped slot, partial ground plane and microstrip feed line to achieve dual-band response. The simulated result shows dual-band characteristics response at 3.29 GHz and 5.95 GHz with bandwidths of 3 - 3.6 GHz and 5.2 –7 GHz respectively, making it suitable for the sub-6 GHz 5G (Fifth-Generation) application.
