Equalization of RMC R.4 Signals using MMSE and Zero Forcing Equalization Techniques

Modern wireless communication systems frequently employ the digital modulation method known as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). It divides the available bandwidth into several orthogonal subcarriers to deliver high data speeds and effective spectrum usage. However, because to the vulnerability of OFDM systems to numerous channel imperfections, equalizers are used to enhance communication performance and reliability. By adjusting for channel distortions, lowering ISI, and enhancing the precision of symbol recovery, equalizers are essential in OFDM systems. In the face of channel impairments, they are crucial for achieving dependable and high-throughput data transmission. This Paper illustrates the equalization of receiver using two different techniques Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and Zero Forcing (ZF) equalizers by configuring a cell-wide structure and generating a transmit signal. A propagation channel is configured with specified parameters, including delay profile, number of receiving antennas, and Doppler frequency. It then introduces noise to the signal and simulates multipath Rayleigh fading. Subsequently, it visualizes the received and equalized grids, facilitating a comprehensive analysis of the equalization process. Researchers and practitioners interested in LTE communication systems, channel estimation, and equalization strategies can utilize this paper for a focused investigation into the performance of the MMSE equalizer on LTE R.4 configurations, offering a valuable resource for further analysis and optimization.
