Localization and Recommendation System IOT-based Solution for Smart Supermarkets

Nowadays, supermarkets and shopping malls suffer from crowds and long cashier queues. This gives customers a rough shopping experience, and many will reconsider shopping in crowded supermarkets unless a safe, fast, and smooth shopping experience is presented. Thus, solving supermarkets' problems smartly using wireless communication technologies and the Internet of Things (IoT) is considered one of the most recent and essential challenges, making it a hot research area. In this paper, we propose a smart supermarket solution that eliminates the leading supermarket problems, such as tedious cashiers with long and crowded queues for the billing process and wasting time searching for specific products in huge and crowded supermarkets. Moreover, the proposed solution also provides an efficient advertising and marketing tool using data analysis and machine learning, easing the supermarket's inventory management. In this regard, to validate the proposed solution, a prototype system is implemented to test the system functionalities and estimate the total cost of this prototype. In the future, the proposed solution can be easily implemented on an accurate commercial scale. As compared to existing supermarket systems, the proposed model is more competitive.
