Latency Control Enabled Bandwidth Allocation for On-Time Services in Higher Speed PONs

The next-generation higher speed PONs (i.e., ITU-T 50G PONs) are envisioned to provide deterministic latency and jitter to support the emerging on-time services. In this context, we proposed a latency control enabled bandwidth allocation scheme tailored for on-time services in higher speed PONs. In the proposed scheme, multiple virtual queues calculated by the required latency and jitter are used when bandwidth is allocated to on-time services. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can well satisfy the deterministic latency and jitter requirements of on-time services without affecting other services.
