Smart Autonomous Location Tracking & HeAlth Monitoring of War Fighters Using NB-IoT/LTE-M with SATCOM

The determination of precise location and monitoring health of the war fighters in a combat zone is critical to the war fighters' health and combat strategy. This paper describes an NB-IoT-based model for autonomous soldiers' location tracking and health monitoring system by incorporating the latest developments in communications technology. The paper describes the key building blocks for designing an innovative system which would ensure the security and safety of war fighters in familiar and unfamiliar lands and in critical covert and rescue operations around the world. To autonomously track the location and movement of each soldier and monitor the health and environment conditions, an NB-IoT system based on NTN SATCOM in conjunction with a back-end intelligent system is presented. The proposed system using 4G NTN-based NB IoT will collect accurate information autonomously and ubiquitously from places previously not possible, and in areas under adversaries' control (with interference mitigation and encryption).
