Self‐Cleaning Glass in Urban Environment

Summary

This chapter presents a comparative study of the outdoor behavior of standard and self‐cleaning glasses. Two contrasting conditions (sheltered and unsheltered from rain) were tested. The surface of the glasses was studied by optical, microscopic, and chemical measurements. The main results show that after two years:

• POM (particulate organic matter) destruction by photocatalysis is activated.
• the superhydrophilic property facilitates the crystallization of the salts.
• the TiO2 film is not altered
