Double C-Slot Monopole Antenna with Defected Ground Structure for Multi-Band Applications

This paper introduces a multi-band rectangular antenna designed for wireless communication applications, specifically targeting Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), Wireless Fidelity (WiFi), and Worldwide interoperability for Microwave access (WiMAX) frequency bands. The antenna is aimed to enhance key performance parameters including, bandwidth, gain, and radiation pattern both in E&H planes. The antenna design incorporates a rectangular radiating patch with strategically placed two C-shaped slots, enabling multi-band operation. A Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is integrated beneath the radiating patch to mitigate surface wave propagation and suppress undesirable harmonics, thereby improving overall efficiency of the proposed antenna. The configuration of the DGS is optimized for optimal performance in GSM, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX frequency bands. Its compact size, broad bandwidth, and improved radiation characteristics make it a viable option for integration into wireless communication devices operating within these frequency bands.
