Intrusion Detection Systems in VANET: A Review on Implementation Techniques and Datasets

With multiplying numbers of Automobiles, the complexity of Automobile industry has grown. Networked Automobiles in VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network), keep posing challenges in many folds. The security of the Vehicular Network System is one of the prime challenges. There are many researches done and being undertaken to improve the efficiency of security systems to keep the network threats and attacks at bay, using many traditional and Machine learning techniques. The datasets also play a significant role in validating and implementing prototype Intrusion Detection System (IDS) Models. This research proposes in-depth study of security aspect of Vehicular Ad Hoc Network and available datasets. This work contributes towards helping enthusiast researchers to have a valuable knowledge of VANET, IDS, datasets, implementation methods, list of metrics and so on. Also suggests further challenges and future trends in VANET.
