An Optimized Approach to Recommend, Retrieve Training Videos based on the Contents of Videos, and Documents

Information Retrieval is an interesting area to fulfil the need for providing required contents to People who are looking for information based on key words. Any Organization has many Business Units (BUs). Each BU has many projects developed using different technologies. Employees are interested in getting cross skilled, upskilled in their interested technologies. Though all training courses provided by various BUs are recorded, there is no common repository and a system to search for these training videos by employees. These recordings are currently saved on Microsoft Streams, which will be available only for employees belonging to their own BU. These recordings will be auto deleted based on retention policy of Microsoft. Supporting documents shared by Trainers are not saved on Microsoft Streams. Currently, there is no system to recommend which training courses are best suited for employees based on their skills. Conducting Repetitive training about the same topics, loss of training recordings, time consumption to cross skill/upskill employees, accidental/intentional deletion of recording files are main drawbacks of the current system. In this proposal, all training recordings will be saved on a single repository to which only IT Admin, BU Project Management Office (PMO) team, and BU Leadership team will have access to recordings. A common Training System should be created and shared across employees to get recommendations for training based on their skills, also to search for their interested topics to retrieve corresponding training recordings and it is supporting documents in an optimized approach based on their search key words.
