Energy Conservation in WVSNs With Multiview Data Streaming via Joint Encoding in Measurement Domain

Wireless  visual  sensor  networks  (WVSNs) with multiview wireless video streaming are composed of camera sensor nodes that have overlapped fields of vision (FoV). Sensor nodes are energy constrained, so it is important to use a data gathering scheme that exploits intra and intersensor data correlations to prolong network lifespan. This letter proposes a distributed joint encoding scheme based on block compressive sensing (BCS) appropriate for WVSNs with multiview data streaming. The proposed method explores the spatio-temporal correlations among the intrasensor and intersensor images in a distributed manner by initiating joint encoding in measurement domain. Experimental results reveals that the proposed method is capable of providing relatively high compression without considerably affecting the reconstruction quality, and also ensures a comparative energy gain at the encoder.
