A Novel Concept of Injected Coupled Inductors

Coupled inductors are known in the industry to improve the performance of multi-phase voltage regulators. However, the best current ripple cancellation in coupled inductors is achieved at very particular duty cycle values where the switching signals in different phases just start to overlap. A new concept is proposed to inject an additional signal into the coupled inductor so the best current ripple cancellation and therefore performance is achieved in any circuit conditions. The experimental results confirm the operation and benefits of the proposed topology.
