Efficient Backup Management in Hybrid Cloud Deployment Based On Workload Data Classification

Data classification is a fundamental concept in the field of information management and analysis. It involves the systematic categorization of data into distinct groups or classes based on shared characteristics, attributes, or properties. Different categories of data need different backup strategies. Backup strategies are based on various aspects including data immutability, encryption, backup frequency, retention etc. that directly affect the cost of backup and thus the financial operations (FINOps), which is an emerging discipline that brings together financial management practices with the dynamic world of cloud computing. In this paper we propose a pragmatic approach to forecast the classified and non-classified workload data that a given set of enterprise application is going to receive and likewise provide recommendation on planning the backup strategy which leads to a better financial operation (FINOps) methodology for enterprises.
