Paper Indexing Method and System Based on Blockchain

The proliferation of online academic resources due to advancements in the internet and digital technologies has led to challenges in ensuring the reliability and authenticity of data sources amidst a huge and diverse database. The existing indexing and citation systems, while convenient, suffer from data volatility, security issues, and a lack of persistent links, leading to potential invalid references. To address this, the paper proposes a reliable paper indexing system based on the Ethereum blockchain, which is known for its decentralized, transparent, and highly secure nature. Three core challenges were identified: managing a large volume of actual data, ensuring the authenticity of critical information on the blockchain, and facilitating ease of index queries. The system segregates actual data from key information to manage blockchain storage pressure, designs a paper index upload module, and develops an easy-to-use data storage method along with a query module for simplified index queries. Implemented on an Ethereum private chain, the system has demonstrated through experiments its capability to ensure the authenticity and availability of data indexes.
