In-Lab Implementation of DSRC PHY Layer

Connected and self-driving vehicles are on the verge of becoming a part of our daily lives. A pivotal technology bringing about the connectivity in these vehicles is Vehicle-to-Everything communications (V2X), which has evolved through two primary technologies: dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) and cellular V2X (C-V2X). While the United States (U.S.) federal government is transitioning to C-V2X, a significant majority of stakeholders still heavily depend on DSRC. This situation underscores the importance of conducting comprehensive studies on DSRC, both theoretically and experimentally. In this context, we introduce an in-lab testbed that aims at assessing the performance of a DSRC system. Our study incorporates various test scenarios to precisely confirm the system's performance. We assert that this experimental setup will play a crucial role in future investigations evaluating the application of DSRC technology in diverse use cases such as DSRC-C-V2X coexistence.
