Mechanism Analysis and Simulation Implementation of Adaptive Frequency Hopping Communication

As a mature and reliable anti-interference communication technology, frequency hopping (FH) communication has been widely used in the field of military communication. However, when some hopping carriers are disturbed, these disturbed carriers will continue to transmit the signal, which will affect the communication quality and even cause communication interruption. To solve the problem, an adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) communication system is proposed in this paper. The AFH consists of two core modules, namely the link quality analysis (LQA) and the frequency set configuration and update (FSCU). The former estimates the real-time channel state and locates the disturbed frequency, and the latter updates the disturbed frequency of transceiver according to the predetermined rules adaptively. Thus the communication quality is improved significantly. The proposed system is constructed in Simulink, and its efficiency and superiority were verified by vast experiments. When the bandwidth radio of the interference signal to the used one is less than 0.315, the bit error rate (BER) of AFH is close to 0 here, which outperforms the normal FH obviously.
