Numerical Analysis of roadside Units Deployment Models in V2X Communication System

This study investigates the placement of roadside units (RSUs) in vehicle-to-everything systems. The placement is carried out using a heat-map method, where less efficient RSUs are removed after each optimization pass. Such an approach allows reducing the number of stationary RSUs in the system, thereby lowering the material costs associated with organizing such a system. The optimized system is compared to placement using the constrained Delaunay triangulation (CDT) method. Additionally, the optimization of the system using mobile roadside units (mRSUs) is also compared. The results indicate that mRSUs not only reduce the load on RSUs but, given a sufficient quantity, can also fully replace stationary RSUs.
