An Overview of Communication Technologies for VANET

In this article communication technologies in VANETs (Vehicular Ad Hoc NETworks) are classified, and their comparative analysis is given. Wireless access technology is classified according to range into three subgroups: short, medium, and long range. Each subgroup is analyzed, providing an overview of the frequency at which it operates, the mobility it supports, modulation techniques present at the physical layer, maximum signal range, interference, installation and maintenance costs, the type of application and communication for which it is used, as well as its advantages and disadvantages.
