Optimized Electric Vehicle Charging Station for Remote Location

In this work, a new Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) system for solar-powered EV charging stations is presented to optimize the harvesting of energy and efficiency in. Inspired by the collective behaviors of horse herds, the proposed Horse Herd Optimization (HHO) algorithm is designed to adaptively enhance the MPPT process in high-dimensional and dynamic solar power environments. HHO incorporates six key features inspired by horse behaviors, including grazing, hierarchy, sociability, imitation, defense mechanisms, and roaming. These features are integrated into the MPPT control system to enable it to respond effectively to varying solar conditions and achieve optimal power output for efficient EV charging system. To evaluate the performance of HHO, extensive simulations and real-world experiments are conducted on solar-powered EV charging stations. The results demonstrate that HHO outperforms conventional MPPT techniques and other nature-inspired optimization algorithms in terms of accuracy, energy utilization, and adaptability to changing environmental conditions. Furthermore, HHO exhibits low computational overhead, making it a practical and sustainable solution for solar-powered EV charging infrastructure.
