Electric Scooter Rideability: Initial Torque Optimization

As urban landscapes witness a surge in the popularity of electric scooters, the need to enhance the performance, particularly with a focus on optimizing initial torque, comes to the forefront. Direct Torque Control (DTC) emerges as a transformative solution, providing a nuanced and expeditious regulation of motor torque without the encumbrance of intricate mathematical transformations. This work integrates DTC seamlessly with a Space Vector Modulator (SVM), introducing a sophisticated layer of real-time adjustments to ensure an impeccably smooth acceleration experience. This system, spanning from the translation of rider input to the Voltage Source Inverter and the Brushless DC (BLDC) motor, incorporates an array of continuous feedback mechanisms meticulously designed to orchestrate an optimal delivery of torque. This work encapsulates not only the improvement of acceleration dynamics but also a heightened sense of stability and safety through the dynamic management of torque and flux afforded by DTC. The outcomes of this approach manifest in the reduction of torque ripple, the minimization of steady-state errors, and the settling time observed across diverse load conditions. This work not only elevates the comfortable ride and safety standards but also lays a foundation for the trajectory of future advancements in electric scooter technology, promising a sustainable and intelligently devised future within the realm of urban mobility.
