A High-Gain Single-Switch DC-DC Converter Based on Cascaded Boost and Voltage Lift Technique

This paper introduces an enhanced topology for the cascaded boost converter, incorporating an inductor-diode Voltage Multiplier Cell (VMC) and a voltage lift technique. The proposed configuration achieves a very high voltage gain while maintaining lower semiconductor voltage stress than the output voltage. The low ripples of the input current and a common ground between the load and source are retained in this innovative topology. Furthermore, the converter's reliability is enhanced as only one switch operates in the proposed design. Additionally, the employed low-sided switch features a simple drive circuit. Four new enhanced topologies were created using the proposed main converter, employing triple and quadruple voltage lift techniques and a re-stacked structure. These enhancements resulted in increased voltage gains. The proposed main topology is thoroughly discussed under both ideal and non-ideal operating conditions. Finally, experimental results are presented for a converter prototype with a 70W output power, 40V input voltage, and 280V output voltage, showcasing the effectiveness of the proposed converter with a 93% overall efficiency.
