Exploring the Impacts of Covid-19 on Global Value Chains: a Literature Review

Covid-19 is one of the disruptions which had a huge impact worldwide. Thus, in order to recover firms had to evaluate pandemic’s effects, rethink their governance and relationships with suppliers, stabilize the production, reconfigure global value chains (GVCs). The aim is to focus on rapidly growing GVCs research by analyzing impacts of Covid-19 on GVCs and appraising studies published in International Business and General Management disciplines. For this purpose, a synthetic literature review and content analysis method has been conducted. The results demonstrate the extent and scale of the disruptions of GVCs and the need to shift from focusing on efficiency to focusing on resilience of the GVCs in response to unexpected crisis. Moreover, results showed that the issues of regional context and regional integration are relevant and should be stated in consideration.
