A Review on Bifacial PV Modules Operating in Partial Shading Conditions

This review paper significantly contributes to the field of photovoltaic (PV) technology by introducing and analyzing the benefits of bifacial PV modules. The paper addresses the limitations of monofacial PV modules and presents [18] bifacial PV modules as a solution, thereby contributing to the evolution of PV technology. It discusses the unique ability of bifacial modules to harvest energy from both sides, leveraging the albedo effect and optimizing energy yield in various environmental scenarios. The concept of dynamic orientation in bifacial modules is introduced, allowing for maximum energy capture throughout the day. The paper explores how bifacial modules, due to their dual-sided exposure, can reduce the impact of shadowing and dissipate heat more effectively. A novel technique to improve rear-side illumination using reflective materials is proposed, further enhancing the efficiency of bifacial modules. The paper emphasizes how bifacial modules can increase the dependability and efficiency of solar energy systems, making them a promising solution for sustainable energy production.This review provides a comprehensive analysis and will facilitate researchers and power engineers for future studies.
