An IoT-based Smart Building Energy Management using DSM Strategies

The global population is increasing day by day and so is the energy demand. Complexity arises when more Ecofriendly distributed generations penetrate the main grid. Now the smart grid infrastructure is heavily dependent upon the real-time information exchange between the main grid and the prosumer end. Prosumers should clarify the proper energy demand and outsourcing schedules to the utility side to achieve maximum profitability with minimum expenditure. A Smart Home Energy Management System (SHEMS) system should be developed which can execute this performance on behalf of the prosumers. An IoT-based SHEMS is introduced here which can correlate between the energy generation using solar PV modules at rooftops and the consumption at the consumer side for automatic energy optimization and billing. Moreover, a demand response infrastructure is proposed which can automatically schedule the controllable household appliances and the locally generated Photovoltaic. Also, the uncertainties of PV are considered here. A new exhaustion index is introduced to increase the prosumer satisfaction level.
