Minimization of the Range Anxiety of Electric Vehicles with Different State-of-Charge of the Battery

Range anxiety and battery pack cost are the main concerns among several others in the wider acceptability of Electric Vehicles (EVs). The main reasons for range anxiety are longer recharging time, limited availability of charging stations, and insufficient battery pack sizes due to high costs. So, at a low State-of-Charge (SoC) of the battery, EV drivers can face challenges to arriving at destinations, e.g., the next battery charging stations and/or homes. Therefore, in this work, the overall objective is to minimize the range anxiety of electric vehicles with different SoC battery levels. Specifically, the first objective is to determine the suitable/optimal speed of the EV, which maximizes the total travel distance at different SoC values. The second objective is to determine the maximum speed of the EV that can drive for a given travel span at particular SoC values. And the final objective is to determine the number of times the EV can stop and go for a given travel span and SoC values. The suggested approach requires only a few available parameters to determine this information and can easily devise a device equipped with EV for drivers. In addition, EVs have different fuel economy characteristics at different speeds.
