Comparative Analysis of P&O and Fuzzy logic based MPPT methods for Bi-facial Photovoltaic module

A power tracking system is necessary for a photovoltaic (PV) system to monitor the maximum working power. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique ensures that the system works efficiently in ever-changing irradiance and temperature conditions. To investigate the effectiveness of the MPPT approach, a solitary bifacial PV model is proposed. Bifacial solar panels have the capability of generating more power compared to conventional solar panels. The advantage of high-power density is because of the non-reflective front and back surfaces. The conventional Perturb and observe algorithm (P&O) and the artificial intelligence-based fuzzy logic control (FLC) approaches are compared among themselves. The two MPPT approaches are analyzed according to bifacial gain, bifaciality factor, and panel efficiency. The comparison aims to show that the fuzzy-logic control outperforms the conventional P&O approach at standard as well as varying conditions of temperature and irradiance.
