Selecting the Alternating Current Waveform Measurement Channel for Detecting a Feeder With a Single-Phase Ground Fault

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the application of Hall device and instrument shunt in instantaneous AC measurement with nonlinear load. This issue is important for devices detecting the outgoing line with single-phase earth fault in lines with isolated neutral based on wavelet transform. The current waveform obtained with the instrument shunt, opposite to that obtained with the Hall device, contains less noise. The results of the study demonstrate the advantages of the Hall sensor and the possibility of its further application in devices for detecting a damaged feeder with single-phase ground fault.
