Design of Electrical Motor Drive Systems for Low-Speed Detection Functional Safety SIL 3

The functional safety (FS) design of electric motor drive systems for Safety Integrate Level 3 (SIL 3). It aims to establish the safety principles and safety operation of electric motor drive systems and the technical requirements to be considered for safety operation in the IEC 61800-5-2 standard. The overall system is an application of safety to detect temperature in electric motor drive systems. It consists of a comparator circuit together with a static safety measurement. The signal from this section is called the sensing section and the safety function section is sent to the relay driving circuit. The final element is an electromagnetic switch that performs as specified on ISO 13849-2 standard with a 1oo2 relay driver circuit for safe operation sequences. This paper focuses on sensing element processing the different formatted 2oo3 and 1oo2 due to circuit behavior and safety configuration. The analysis showed that the two models were not significantly different from each other and were still in SIL 3.
