Enhanced Technical Capability for EV and SDV through AI based Functional Competency Assessment

Auto product and services companies across the globe are facing an uphill task to develop and sustain technical teams as the automotive moves away from a traditional mechanical oriented system. With the influx of electronics, transition to electric mobility and increasingly complex software features, the ‘computer on wheels’ is evolving fast. Companies need the talent in to stay relevant in the ‘future mobility’ areas and they need it now. The challenge of finding the right talent and assessing the candidates is a very time consuming and slow process. We believe that, by changing the hiring and assessment process, organizations can successfully build strong technical teams. An effective use to AI to automate the human involvement in selecting the candidate and ensuring the role-fit can simplify the challenge at hand. Furthermore, AI can provide customized skill gap analysis and create learning maps to further train these engineers. Our AI based assessment enables an experiential hiring process. This converts the interview into a practical assessment thereby removing the interviewer's bias and solely focus on what is essential to deliver in a certain technical role. The experiential hiring process builds a hiring process based on a practical approach. The candidate is exposed to a simulated environment, where-in there are multiple experiments and case studies which are selected from a library of over 200 experiments that our team has evolved over the last 4 years. Our AI-assisted functional competency assessment framework is not only valid for new hiring but also for finding the next roles of existing engineers and for creating their learning roadmaps. Such an approach would empower an engineer to prepare themselves for new roles, such as a Battery Recycling Project Manager, and go through an assessment for that role and learn about what gaps are there and get a learning road map for it.
