Electricity Pilferage Detection Using LoRA RF Module

Electricity pilferage is a form of non-technical loss due to the criminal act of stealing electrical power, which adversely influences the operation of the power sector. In order to alleviate the aforementioned problem, this study designed a detection system specifically for the presence of illegal wire tampering in the low-voltage distribution power network. The determination of current magnitude is simulated and attained through an IoT (Internet of Things)-based multi-sensor system, and the identification of the presence of electricity pilferage is achieved through the utilization of current sensors and the Long Range Radio Frequency Module, or LoRA. The real-time monitoring, on the other hand, was shown through the programmed webpage through the Master Terminal Unit (MTU). The system shows that the current sensors installed were reliable and efficient in terms of detecting abnormal currents, and LoRA was proven to be effective in terms of its data transmission.
