Performance Evaluation and Analysis of Visible Light Communication for Indoor Data Transfer using LED Technology

Visible light communication has been an area of interest ever since the rise in demand of bandwidth for communication channels. It not only solves bandwidth and security issues, but also is ‘green’ as compared to RF spectrum-based communication. The utilization of Visible Light Communication (VLC) through LED technology for indoor data transfer is explored to evaluate the performance of VLC on various factors including channel length, source wavelength, and bit rate. The results demonstrate that VLC is highly effective for distances up to 10 meters, with shorter wavelengths proving to be more suitable for indoor VLC applications. Furthermore, the research establishes that data transfer rate of up to 1 Gbps can be achieved using VLC. Additionally, the paper investigates the impact of ambient noise on VLC performance. This research provides valuable insights into the potential of VLC as a reliable and high-speed indoor data transfer technology, highlighting its advantages and limitations.
